With YW in Exellence approaching, does anyone have any ideas? I'm new to the program in my ward and we desperately need ideas! Thanks!

It's always a good idea to remember the girls. (That seems so silly [to me, to be saying that...], um, but... sometimes we get so caught up in the planning, that we forget who we are planning for.) Give the girls who completed their YW award a display table. Or, if you have a small ward, give each girl a table and have her display something she worked on in her personal progress. It also helps to plan around a theme. Of course, you could go off the Youth Theme (For 2006 it is ---> D&C 115:5, Arise and Shine Forth...). Oh! You could do a lot with that! Lighthouse, or candles, or flashlight... or combine all to a 'shining light' theme. See more ideas for the 2006 theme here (there's even a song that would fit in great with a program): ywconnection.com/2006%20-%20Arise%20&%20Shine%20Forth/page2006index.htmlCheck out the "YWIE" (Young Women In Excellence) section of YW Connection here: ywconnection.com/Personal%20Progress/pagePPindex.htmlThis link to YW Connection is for refreshments: ywconnection.com/Refreshments/pageRefreshmentindex.html

I'm new to YW's as the 1st Counselor. One of the things I'm in-charge of giving is the hand-out at the end of the program. I'm thinking of putting together gift bags, I have one thing so far to put in the gift bags, little pictures that I'm going to frame or paste on foam backing that you buy at the office supply store then put nice ribbon on two corners to dress it up. I thought about buying tea light candles with each of the colors of the values. I'm about ready to order the tea lights and I'm trying to look up the value colors and I think Individual Worth is red? But looks pink in the book. I'll have to look it up. Any way these are a couple of ideas I have with the hand out.
The president gave me the pictures, then she gave me a beautiful calender "Let Your Light So Shine" by Simon Dewey" to take apart and frame. I will display these in the room. But because the pictures might be odd sizes I'll probably use foam poster board for these pictures also. Candles holders with ivy, a nice table cloth. That's as far as I have thought of....I need a few more things for the hand-out. Chocolate molds of lights, candles?
