What are some of the best mutual activities that you've seen/participated in?

I like activities that get the youth out of their regular groups and out of their comfort zones. Mix people up by saying - if you had eggs for breakfast, sit down. You get the idea. Doing something like this at a dance is good too, especially on a stake level. Buy ym/yw wristbands with the theme on them, then you have something that is easily seen and still has meaning after the event. There were 7 different colors (3 of the colors were solid guy colors, the other 4 colors were girl colors and then a red that could go either way) at www.ldsgreats.com/index.php?osCsid=8eff6117354c2818f1e1e25e0028d59b . Real randomly say this dance is an olive green guy and a red girl dance. Half way through the song blue guys and lavender ladies can cut in. You can do this during a service project also. It helps mix things up and helps you meet more people. Youth like it because they don't always want to stay with the same people all night, but also don't want to feel like they are deserting their friends. And it gives them something easy to talk about, when they feel uncomfortable.

One of the ones I immediately thought of was when the youth in my ward did balloon sports. We all got balloons tied to our ankles, and we had to go around the gym stepping on other peoples' balloons without getting ours stepped on. After that was all done, we had a tournament to see who was the best at dodging other feet, and the leaders slowly shrunk the playing court until we were only playing in the little half-circle by the foul line. It was a lot of fun!

We recreated the blind olympics..It was much fun! We each had a partner (one would be blindfolded) and the other had to give him directions..We had to work together to complete different activities such as shooting basketballs and completing a maze ect. It was really cool because we tied it into following the Holy Ghost and gave the night a spiritual side. I would definatly do this activity again.
